Question Spontaneous Random Crashes - WHEA Logger Event 18, No Pattern

Hi,

Desperate for some help here. For about a month or two my PC has been having random crashes during both non-intensive and intensive activity. This would happen between very occasionally but now is seemingly happening more often.
There seems to be no pattern to it at all, sometimes I will just be browsing the web, other times gaming my PC will freeze, hang for about 3 seconds and then reboot. No BSOD. Happens more when I'm using chrome and word side by side weirdly enough but not common enough to be the main cause.

Research online suggests people have a similar issue but I cannot for the life of me pinpoint what is causing my problems.
The actual event viewer lists 3 WHEA Logger errors after the critical Kernal power error, all event 18:

Error 1:
A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error

Troubleshooting so far:
  • Memtest 86 - no issues found
  • /sfc scannow - no issues found
  • Updating all drivers
  • Updating chipset
  • Temp monitoring - no issues found

Not really sure what my next steps are - I am unsure whether to try updating the BIOS or not due to risk and the Gigabyte website is unclear on Ryzen processors.

Look in Reliability History. Much more user friendly than Event Viewer and presents a time line format that can be very helpful.

What you can do:

Power down, unplug, open the case.

Clean out dust and debris.

Verify by sight and feel that all connectors, cards, RAM, and jumpers are fully and firmly in place.

Use a bright flashlight to inspect throughout for signs of damage: cracked connectors, bare conductor showing, melted insulation, browned or blackened components, swollen components, signs of liquid, pinched or kinked wires. Loose screws or brackets. Anything amiss at all.

Also: how old is that Corsair PSU? History of heavy use for gaming, video editing, or even mining?

Gave everything a thorough clean and check (visual and physical), no problems.
Have waited a bit hoping a random update would fix it but no luck. Stress tested more as well and cannot replicate the problem.

PSU is a year and a half old, bought new and not really used heavily. It's actually the newest part in the PC. Some gaming but nothing heavy.

I'm still stumped, the fact I cannot replicate it makes me think it could be a hardware failure? But the randomness doesn't make sense to me. Oldest part in the PC is 4 years old, everything else ~2 years.
Any additional help would really be appreciated, it's starting to affect my university work as it will die mid working.
