Hello,

I've been having this issue for a little while now. I try to use the Internet at my apartment and it doesn't work properly. I will get short bursts of a good connection and long streams of constant loading. Even Facebook and YouTube take like 5 minutes to load.

I've ran diagnostics and stuff and usually get the same results:
-The default gateway is not available (Shows fixed next to it sometimes).
-Windows cant communicate with the device or resource [Primary DNS] (Shows not-fixed, but if i troubleshoot again it will show no issue).
-The communication between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken.

I don't have any of these problems at my school, the library, or my parent's place and my roommates don't have a problem here, only I do. I've tried setting the default gateway and updating my driver, but they didn't work. I'm getting really annoyed and just want to get this fixed. Can anyone please help and explain how I can fix this?

Thanks.

The router is Xfinity
My computer is a Toshiba Satellite A665
My driver is an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN

Have you noticed any patterns? Does it matter how close or far you are from the router?

In the mean-time, it never hurts to check that you have the latest drivers (Toshiba provides their own version, usually through some Toshiba Updater utility. Or you can go straight to Intel's site and get them).

Are you absolutely certain the Xfinity device is a router?

Do this:
Right-click on the network icon down in the system tray, near the clock. Unless you run Win8
Select Status
Click the Support tab

There is where your active network setup can be seen
The first item will tell your address type.
What does it say?
List the IP number, gateway address ONLY if they start with 192.168.x.x

If while looking at this info, if you click the details button you'll see more info, such as DNS server address and more.
