Spring for memory before the board? (Decision needed today!)

I am building a new system as soon as the July price drops hit. It hopefully will be a Q6600 paired with a p35 or an x38. Right now 2GB of Crucial Ballistix 1066 are at newegg for just over $80 with the rebate. I know its not always the wisest to get buy ram first because of compatibility, but considering ballistix's popularity will I be safe jumping on this bargain?

Dunno really, not sure when the X38s are due. P35s currently support both DDR2 and DDR3 don't they, and it won't get much cheaper than this I don't imagine.... and it's amazing RAM

Yeah the P35 does; however, when looking at Gigabyte's lineup it did not say this RAM was supported.

Worst case, if it doesn't work in your new MB, send it in for replacement under the lifetime warranty.
