Although these posts don't seem to be overly popular.. though it would
be interesting to mention that as of SUNDAY last weekend Sim-season
changed to SPRING!

On the climb to 9'000 heading south out of Shenandoah Regional for
Roanoke...

Gregory,
It's nice to see green again, eh? We seem to have survived another
winter....

Yes indeed. Can't seem to get enough of the Sim.. that is exploring
geography everywhere in the world!! For instance in the easter USA
mountain ranges.. there's so many fine details.. and can take the
Coords from FlightSim and plug into DeLorme map software to explore
further.

From another previous topic.. the `green textures' are just a bit on
the dim side.. and getting into some experiments described in `Take
off your sunglasses' post.. circa 4-3-04. Whereby editing bitmaps and
implement `synthetic intensity range' expansion. Is this possible with
sun-lighting in MSFS? (i.e. brighten them up?)

well.. have dynamic scenery cut for now. perhaps have a bmp with
livestock `dots' or similar. Really tho.. if you have time, sort and
then preview your textures BMP collection as follows:

1) create preview directories such as:

Volume in drive F is Edmain Tank 80 GB
Directory of \SCENEDB\World\Texture\- preview 2005 0311

03/11/2005 07:22p <DIR> - lm
03/21/2005 11:47p <DIR> sp
03/22/2005 12:01a <DIR> su
03/22/2005 12:04a <DIR> fa
03/22/2005 12:02a <DIR> wi
03/11/2005 07:30p <DIR> hw

2) download Convim
http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/programs/convim.htm

3) Search by "sp" for SPRING and COPY bitmaps to \sp folder.

4) run Convim on bitmaps with JPG output set at ~85%

5) delete all BMP files leaving JPG previews.

6) sort through, mix and match the choice files.

7) flight-test and evaluate until best `scene' is found.

8) write good reviews and encourage others to keep at it!!

p.s. don't forget to make a \BAK or \ORG folder.. :)

Save yourself some time and trouble and crank up the gamma on your display
settings... worx for me.

Aww that's too easy....

Will be digging into the SDK and editing/making some additional
textures. Am really delighted with the results. It's tough to resist
posting more screen shots. :)

Wow!
I have no idea what you just said. 🙂

It seems like a wonderful idea, but first I need to upgrade RAM and my GFX
card. Then I can clean things up with mesh and then maybe...maybe I can
work on those BMPs.
Thanks for the tip.
