SQL 2005 on Windows 7 Home Premium

I am trying to find a way to install SQL 2005 on Windows 7 Home Premium and every time I try to start it it says that it is not supported. Does anybody know if there other software I can download or am I going to have to bite the bullet and grab a copy of Windows 7 Pro or an old version of XP.

Which version of SQl 2005 are you trying to install and which version of Windows? Some combinations may work, some won't.
Also, 32 bit vs 64bit are different.

This table at Microsoft lists the compatibilities. Doesn't list Win7, but for Vista, some SQL editions work on Vista Home Premium, some don't.

Assuming this is SQL Express (the free version) it has to be at least SP3 to support Windows 7 - ideally you want SP4.

Is there a specific reason for using SQL 2005? If not, you would be better going for SQL Express 2008 R2 or SQL Express 2012
