Hello,
I want to upgrade my GPU.

My current spec:
Processor: Intel Core i7 920 8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 4.80 GT / s
Motherboard: Intel Desktop Board DX58SO
Memory: G. SKILL 3GB Kit DDR3 PC3-10666 CL9
Graphics Card: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5450 512MB DDR2
Power Supply: Seasonic SS-500ET
Storage: Intel X25-M G2 80GB + Samsung 500GB Spinpoint F3
Case: HEC Compucase 6A19B
Screen: Samsung T220P - Resolution 1920X1200

According to this review (http://www.anandtech.com/show/4051/nvidias-geforce-gtx-570-filling-in-the-gaps/3) the power consumption of the whole system under crysis is 361W. They tested the system with CPU the same as mine but in OverClocking and Motherboard Asus Rampage II Extreme.
If I would buy just the video card (without upgrading the PSU) to see if the power supply is handling with my system it can cause damage to my system? Or just the computer turns off itself / Buckling under load?

*My power supply provides 408W in the 12v's rail (It's have two rail of 12V each one is 17A).
**My power supply have PCI-E 6 Pin and PCI-E 6+2 Pin connectors.

361 watts from the wall -
~ 85% psu efficiency of the SS500ET =
~ 307 watts load on the psu, about 61.5 % of it's capacity, when gaming, with an overclocked cpu
Not a problem

It's a Seasonic, 99.99% chance that no OCP is enacted and you could draw all of the 12v's capacity off either virtual rail

If I will see that my PC crash/shut down under load I will replace the PSU.
There is no chance that any part of the pc will burned or something like that, right?
