Hey guy i am planning to buy a new laptop. Dell inspiron 5547 probably.

http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=x540555in8&model_id=inspiron-15-5548-laptop&c=in&l=en&s=dhs&cs=indhs1&

So i cant add a SSD and HDD together. So what i thought that if i replace HDD with the SSD for storing windows and games. And store other bulky data in my External drive.

So my question is that if i store games (Obviously like BF4,Dying light) in my external and play it directly from external will i end up with lagging in games. I think so that i will lag but am not so sure wanted some reviews from you guys.

Solution
USB 3 external drive will lag a lot less than usb2. A 480 GB ssd is fairly large, so hopefully you can store most of what you need on the laptop.

A laptop that has an MSATA port would let you have an SSD for boot and a spinning drive installed at the same time. That's what my kids are running. I do not think your choice of laptop has an MSATA port.

What is an MSATA port?
I replaced the HDD on my ASUS laptop with an SSD, then put the HDD into a caddy and replaced the CD/DVD drive with the caddy.
Everything works fine except that when I select "Restart" the laptop hangs with a blank screen. If I just connect the HDD to the laptop witha SAtAIII-to-USB cable that problem does not occur.
