Hey there. This is my first time doing a build and I have one question to ask you all. I am building a gaming pc and have no clue what an ssd drive does. If I have an ssd do I need a hard drive? If I have a hard drive do I need an ssd? Here is my checklist thus far. I am looking into the intel 330 (120 gigs) for the ssd, And a western digital blue (500 gigs) for a hard drive. Also make corrections as you see them.

CPU - Intel Core i5 3570k                  $214.99
Motherboard - ASRock Z77 Pro4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard. $109.99
PSU - CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply                $50
Graphics card - SAPPHIRE 100352-2L Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card               $320
RAM - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model     $free with the motherboard
Hard drive -
Case - Phantom 410                $80

Thanks!

SSD is fancy toy for the PC, when you install the SSD in the PC like you want the 120GB one, then you need other HDD for storage.

SSD only can let your PC boot fast, and load the game programs fast, it don't increase the game fps. But if you have the budget that is the way to go.

If you want the HDD only then get the western digital black that is better.

You need the CPU cooler too that is for the i5-3570K
