SSD and HDD combo

I built a new computer using a SSD and HDD combonation. I installed ubuntu and my often used programs on the SSD. But after connecting the HDD, I find it difficult to navigate the drives separately. When I type 'sudo lshw -C disk' into the terminal, I can clearly see both the hard drive and the solid state drive, but in 'files' the only thing I see is "computer."

This might be an intended feature for people with multiple hard drives, but I don't really want it. In windows I'm used to having C:/ and F:/ and so on and so forth, but with linux its really confusing me.

I just need to know what I need to do in order to choose what drive I put my files on. For example; I would like to put say, skyrim, on my SSD. But I would like to put all my music on my hard drive. How do I do this?

Hey there, Maxito5019!

Have you installed ubuntu alongside another OS?
Also did you optimize it for ubuntu installation?

I can suggest you a couple of links that might help you resolve the issue:

I installed ubuntu and my frequently used programs on my SSD without even connecting my HDD. What I want to do now that I connected my HDD is to set that to where all my stuff will go. I'm not experienced in linux so I dont' know how to put this, but I want all my libraries like documents, music, etc.. along with my downloads on my hard drive, while keeping my operating system and programs on the SSD. I have linux set to boot from the SSD, what I dont' really get how to do is to get all the directories into the Hard drive instead of the solid state drive. Do I need to reinstall and put the partitions in while both the drives are connected?

Hi again, Maxito!

I don't have a lot of experience with Linux either.
However, I think this tutorial can help you figure out the problem:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Partitioning/Home/Moving
Or you can use some special apps that make it easier for people like us to move default locations:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/60161/change-the-default-downloads-directory
I don't think you need to reinstall with both drives plugged in to change this, though.

I hope these links help you. Keep me posted!
