you are cloning disks and don't know what a page file is. ? Study Van Neumann architecture
and this (its complex but i will attempt it)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pagefile
ok
the pc with 8gb if memory (ram) will not really need a page file. in fact you can turn it off 100% (try it) (i have many times)
but in the old days, if you ran out of memory what would the CPU do? , answer, lockup, after all, memory if full what do you do next . ( punt ?)
so , they invented a Swap file (called memory cache , or page/swap file by computer designers)
this makes the memory seem infinite to the OS. ( limited only by 2TB HDD space) and is Gosh darn slow. 200,000s slower or more.
so the short answer is that that a swap file is a virtual memory.
windows, will even swap out ( verb) windows parts, even with 8gb of ram. funny, that but true.
so my answer is, if you have plenty of memory and are not loading 10 instances and movies in sony vid edit 9
then you will not swap out.
there is no free lunch, if you load COD MW3 on to HDD (rotating memory disk) it will load slow. after all , how can it not?
be happy with SSD OS speed, and fast ie loads, and fast fire fox loads from SSD.
learn to install needed fast apps to the SSD and the ok to load slow apps on HDD. at INSTALL TIME.

there are 5 major issues for speed here, page, defram, pagefile, and other caches... see it in my logs.

one more point, if the OS and the swap file share the same spindle the swap file will be slow. (see that arm in the HDD holding the head, it has to move real far ! OS to swap and back.) this is not true on SSD, there is no ARM.
and STEAM , for steam (MW3) you need 16gb space for 1 game, so if you can fit it, load it to SSD. for speed.
phippsy :
i have a ssd and hdd in my pc i have windows 7 on my ssd and things like games and steam on my hdd when i start my pc and its on my home screen my hdd is still loading and takes a couple of seconds as if it hasnt caught up with the ssd is there a way to make it so when pc is booted it loads everything up quicker
