If i buy a 250gb SSD and a 2TB HDD will i be able to use them both at the same time and download some games to my SSD and have my HDD mainly for pictures, videos, operating system?

Yes. That is a very common setup.
However you really, really want the OS on the SSD.

Yes, but always put the OS onto the SSD, or it defeats the purpose of having a SSD.

you can easily create destination folder(s) on either drive for whatever files you choose during the installation of each program(game). I'd recommend using the SSD for the OS and the current games you're playing.

Well im getting windows 8.1 and im used to the boot speed on my HDD right now (7200RPM) i dont mind waiting a little longer i just wanted the SSD for gaming.

It's not just the boot time benefit. The whole system feels better.

For a 250GB drive, you want to leave around 10-15% free space. So basically don't go over 200GB or so.

The OS by itself might take up around 30GB.
What really takes up space is movies, music, etc, etc. Have all of that stuff on the HDD.
