SSD and HDD

First time building a computer sorry if I sound dumb. Anyways I was wondering on how I can boot OS / Windows from my SSD Drive and keep my HDD as storage. Do I have to do anything specific. I'm still waiting on my parts to come and I'm just wondering so I know what to do. Like do I have to unplug my HDD first idk?... help please ;(
