So I was reading something online and it said that an m.2 ssd (i will be getting one with my next build) says it uses a GPU slot. Is this true? And if so then it can't be used with a micro ATX board? I was hoping to build something like this https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/ggdcVY . I put a full ATX board in there for now but I would like to use a micro ATX because it is much cheaper.
Any suggestions much appreciated on anything about the build.

You're fine going with a mATX motherboard. A PCIe SSD will take up PCIe lanes but unless you're trying to go triple SLI, you should be fine. The m.2 on the board likely shares the lanes with the PCie x4 slot, so if you use one, it disables the other. But not knowing which exact motherboard I can't speak to how its set up.

So just to check (measure twice cut once :p) I will be able to use a pci ssd with a micro atx?

Unless there is something truly fucky going on, yes you should. I would review the user manual for the motherboard just to be sure, but I can't think of any reason you'd have an issue with your proposed system given the parts you have listed.
