Question SSD blue screen Windows 10

I'm a clueless mumma of a nearly 14 year old son who is trying to reformat a new Samsung 970 EVO NVME M.2 500GB SSD but the computer keeps blue screening.

He is trying to reformat so he can put windows 10 on it again.

Any help MUCH appreciated!

When exactly the blue screen happens? Can you please specify the error? Usually it's written on the bottom of the blue screen.
