I read somewhere- can't remember where- that it's not a good idea to use "sleep" mode with a SSD boot drive if running Win 8.1. Comments?
thanks,
Joe

It's generally not a good idea to hibernate or sleep using an SSD drive because it writes a while bunch of data to the drive that it'll only use once (to resume from hibernation.)

SSDs have a limited amount of write cycles so if you constantly hibernate, it'll wear out the SSD cells and significantly decrease your SSD lifetime.

Do you think it's best to turn off "fast restart" feature of Win 8.1 if we have a SSD boot drive? It writes some system info to disk to speed up restarting- though probably not nearly as much as sleep/hibernate mode.
