Hi, my motherboard bios works and registers my ssd.

Though there are a few things wrong, some ram slots make the bios horizontally red line for some reason.

When I try and boot with one stick that works, it just sits on the black screen with a line blinking like in cmd.

I'm going to buy parts in 1 hour so I need help, should I buy a new SSD or a motherboard?

Thanks ofr your help

Hi,

Couple of questions:

1) Do you have OS installed onto the SSD? If yes, has this OS been installed on the current Motherboard/CPU or another setup
2) Has the SSD been selected in the bios as the boot drive in the drive orders selector?
3) Can you run a memory test to see if the first stick works correctly
4) Can you rotate RAM around? Normally 2 Sticks will have to go in specific order on some motherboards. E.g. stick 1 must go in slot 1 and stick 2 must go in slot 3. This should be in the Motherboards manual.

I would not jump the gun with buying new stuff just yet. But maybe you will need to. Sometimes specific RAM does not work with some motherboards. Has this PC ever worked? Or are these random parts tried for the first time.

1 - Yes OS is installed and is on the same setup.

2 - Yes the SSD is the first priority boot.

3 - Ran memtest, 30 minutes ago the horizontal red lines were occurinv and now they are fine so I guess the memory is fine.

4 - It didn't allow me to 30 minutes ago because the red lines would crash my display, I am running my PC with intel hd graphics to rule out my GPU

PC has been working for the last 7 months just fine, i really appreciate your help. What would you suggest now? Literally walking out the door on my phone.

Just to add I also have experienced black screen crashes that result in no display, usually after a while when my pc has been on and reawakes from its sleep.

I have to do a huge upgrade if I need a new mobo cause im on 1155 atm

Sorry for the delay, I had some work to do. Thanks for all that info. So i take it that the SSD has the OS on it, and is configured correctly. Do you have a windows CD? Can you boot into windows recovery mode? Might be a HDD corruption issue.
Which windows is this?

Also see if you can boot into safe mode at all.

Yea it has windows on it and thats about it.

I have the CD socI will try and use it shortly.

I was able to boot into recovery mode, but then the display crashes would stop that, it would then boot into recovrery mode everytime. Until it just stopped.

And i have Windows 10.

I have tested my CPU and RAM in memtest and they work fine. My GPU is not in so that is ruled out. My PSU is also not a problem, so it really just narrows it down to the motherboard, SSD or HDDs (I have two).

Thanks again really appreciate the help

My SSD is completely fine, it shows up in the Windows disk menu when I try to install windows off of my disk. It won't let me write over it though. So I assume this is a problem with my motherboard? And will it require a new one? Thanks for your time
