Honestly I am a noob when it comes to SSD's and this helped me slightly. However I am still uncertain about what to buy. I have an H97 Pro gamer mobo, with 4790 processor, I am looking at buying Kingston A1000 M.2 240gb SSD or an ADATA Ultimate su800 M.2 256gb SSD. They are both the same price from my supplier, so pricing isn't the issue. I just want to get the most bang for my buck. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

m.2 is a packaging spec. About the size and shape of a stick of gum.
It fits into a motherboard slot with no need for power or data cables.

Then, you have the option of a sata device or a pcie device. pcie has 4x faster sequential transfers but costs more.
My take would be for the same price, buy a larger sata device.
Windows mostly does small random I/O so sequential speeds are not that important.

Many ssd vendors buy other parts and build a cheap ssd.

I think one will do better to buy a Samsung EVO.
You will pay a bit more but get a better device.
I think I would buy a Samsung 970 EVO m.2 pcie device

It has a 5 year warranty.
The 860 evo sata device is only $10 less.

Hey Geofelt,

Thanks for your reply. Sadly I am from South Africa so stock and pricing differs slightly than in the states. The EVO 860 250gb SSD is sitting at 85 dollars, however I have found an XPG SX8200 Pro 256GB m.2 PCie for about 85 dollars as well ( i converted from rands lol) This seems to be a good option to me. Our prices are really weird. All come with a 5 year warranty.
