[ssd] Cant install win7 on new intel 330 raid 0?

I'm having a very similar problem to the guy here:

ASROCK extreme 6
2x intel 330 120GB SSD
i7-3770k
16gb
gtx 680

basically, I have confirmed:

In the BIOS, the SATA controller IS set to RAID (not AHCI)

Using the intel Rapid Storage Technology tool, I combined the two drives into a raid0 volume. this is confirmed because when I restart, the raid volume shows up in the RST echo with the right size etc.

I have the intel desktop sata raid controller driver on a thumb drive.

When I load windows 7 setup, it sees the 223GB array as one volume, but requires a driver. I put in the thumb drive, it recognizes that a compatible driver is on the thumb drive, I load it.......

and this:

"windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu"

What can I do?

in the other thread, the guy said it was solved by removing the USB... which, of course I've tried.

is it RAID 0 or 0+1, or some other lvl of RAID?
also does the version of windows 7 support the use of that lvl of RAID on the OS volume?
the hardware side of it looks good but did you set up the RAID backwards and/or incorrectly in the BIOS for windows to regonize it?
is the RAID Controller a windows compatiable RAID Controller for that version of windows 7?
most likely it is a software error somewhere with windows not fully regonizeing the disk and did you do a full format onto the RAID voume to get it into NTFS ?

It is raid 0.
I did not manually format it.... Usually win 7 formats its own partition on unpartitioned space I thought? Anyway the raid tool had no option.
When you are selecting which drive to install win 7 on, it gives you options for partitioning and formatting, but in this case they are grayed out. How would I format it before then?

The raid controller is win7 specific, so I'm assuming its compatible.

Stupid question: are the drives attached to the chipset controller, or one of the two Marvell controllers?
