I invested in a pair of internal, 1-TB SSDs that fit nicely in a QNINE controller expansion card. I plugged this into a PCIe slot on the motherboard of a T7600 and tried to boot.
Of course being a Dell, the main fan began roaring full throttle and made my office sound like a runway for Boeing 767s. And the computer simply refused to boot.
I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on how installation might actually be possible, considering the board's clear lack of hospitality.

I believe you cannot boot from an ssd that sits in a pci card, you can however use it as a secondary drive
Actually my other computer has an Asus Z97 motherboard, and it boots just fine from an SSD in a PCIe card. But the real issue is how to allow the Dell to boot up.
