SSD changed from MBR to GPT and can't access it anymoe

Hi,

I have a Samsung 850 Pro 512GB.
It suddenly shows up as GPT, with a size of 2048.00GB.
However when I check the driver properties in Disk Management, it shows Partition Style: MBR.
Any suggestions? I don't have any data on the drive.

Try cleaning the drive with diskpart.

• diskpart
  select disk 2
  clean

If that doesn't fix the capacity, then try secure erase.

Hi I tried diskpart along with "clean" and "clean all" but got the following error

There are no volumes.

Windows recognized it as a "GPT Protective Partition" only because it cannot read or boot from it. As a result, data becomes inaccessible

So I tried Secure Erase with Samsung Magician software.

After booting into Samsung Secure Erase and attempting to secure erase I got the following error message:
Error : 23
Secure Erase is not supported by this SSD!

Secure erase then.

Have you tried deleting 2048MB GPT protective partition with diskpart?

• diskpart
  list disk
  select disk 2
  list partition
  select partition 1
  delete partition override
  (just make sure you don't delete the wrong partition)

BTW - what does Samsung Magician say about the drive? Is it reporting any problems?

Tried that, got the error message of
DiskPart has encountered an error: The request is not supported.
See the System Event Log for more information.

In the system Event log it says as
File System Filter 'EasyAntiCheatSys' (Version 6.1, ‎2018‎-‎07‎-‎25T14:04:41.000000000Z) unloaded successfully.

Samsung Magician shows no errors.

You could also try with some 3rd party partition management software - converting gpt protective partition to basic data partition.
Minitool partition wizard free - for example.

If nothing works, then warranty situation, I guess.
