SSD cloning question...

I have a new SSD and was wandering is there any benefits or disadvantages to cloning your OS to another drive in this case i would be cloning my OS and some other programs and drivers from my 60gb SSD to my new KHX 3K 120gb. I was originaly gong ot reinstall Win 8 pro on the new SSD. but i want some feedback on cloning....

Well, there´s always something that could go wrong.

But that aside, there shouldn´t be any disadvantages if your OS is already correctly set up which I assume it is.

There are no real disadvantages of cloning as long the rest of your PC stays the same.

Just clone and done. Re-installing is always a mission. If you change your Motherboard then cloning can become a problem with ghost drivers and HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) Problems and later instability.

Cloning is a great solution. Use the Apricorn Hard Drive Upgrade kit. It makes the cloning operation simple through a software-based wizard.

You install the software in the kit. You connect the new drive via the USB connector in the kit. You choose the drive you wish to clone. The software clones and extends the boot partition to the size of the new drive. Then you remove the old SSD and add the new SSD in its place. Use the same SATA port as the old SSD for the new SSD to avoid any unforeseen issues. After you boot up with the new drive, you can shut down and attach the old drive to the system, format it and use it for whatever else you need.
