I have a GIGABYTE Z390 Altus Pro WIFI motherboard with a WD BLUE 3D NAND 1 TB SATA SSD M.2 2280 (WDS100T2B0B-00YS70) in the M2A socket. I would like to add an Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 3D NAND SSD (SSDPEKNW010T8X1) in the M2M socket for data storage? I have read the mobo manual and the Intel SSB is a supported drive. My question is, are the two drives compatible with each other. The WD SATA drive will continue to be the boot drive. Thanks for a helpful answer.

Drive A does not care what Drive B is.
As long as they work with the motherboard, all is OK.

  • 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe x4/x2 SSD support) (M2A)
  • 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280 SATA and PCIe x4/x2 SSD support) (M2M)

The M2M port can indeed use that Intel drive. No worries.
