I just bought an HP Omen 15-ax250wm

It says it has a M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slot (2280)

Can I just use a standard m2 2280 ssd? Or does it have to be a nvme one? And if so what’s the recommended ssd to use either 120 or 250 range

Solution

m.2 is the form factor.
They can be either SATA or NVMe.

This laptop?

Where does it say anything about an m.2?

It has an m22280slot I’ve opened it up and seen tons of videos of people with the same laptop adding m2 nvme drives. Just not sure if it has to be nvme or if a regular m2 2280 drive will work since they are considerably cheaper than nvme

OK.
But if it says NVMe, then probably only an NVMe drive.
And you want 250GB or larger. 120GB is a waste of money.
