Thank you for your reply. I have the Windows 10 64bit Home edition. The SSD is the Crucial BX500 (120Gb)Which SSD do you have out of Crucial's portfolio? Which version of Windows 10 did you install?
Sorry, I forgot to add: version 1903Which SSD do you have out of Crucial's portfolio? Which version of Windows 10 did you install?
I've never heard that recommendation on any drive.Crucial or otherwise, SSD or otherwise.
Did it give a reason?
Shall I leave things with no changes... or I turn it off?Ah, OK.
They're recommending turning that OFF, simply because it is not necessary any more. NTFS can natively handle file names of longer than 8.3.
But...no real need to turn it off.
Thank you, I'll try to turn it off thenEither way.
I doubt you'd see any actual performance difference.
Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately I can't do it via my BIOS because I don't have any option/setting that allows me to change it. Is there another way to change to AHCI without using the BIOS?You should change the Sata port to AHCI mode as well since you have an SSD now.
