Hello,

I've been reading other threads about this but none of them really matches what is happening to me. I just bought a brand new MSI laptop running Windows 11 . Here are the specs:
MSI 17.3" Vector GP76 Gaming Laptop
1.7 GHz Intel Core i7 14-Core (12th Gen)
32GB of DDR4 RAM | 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD.
17.3" 1920 x 1080 360 Hz IPS Display.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (8GB GDDR6)

I have a WD-Black P50 Game drive (SSD) that holds all my steam games. When I first plug it to the laptop, it is recognized and it shows in file explorer. I can access it, I can start playing the games in it... for about 15-20 mins... then it disconnects... poof... dissapears.
I have tried the following to fix the issue:
  • Changed USB selective suspend setting to Disabled
  • In the USB Root Hub, I went to the Power Management tab and unchecked Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  • It is a brand new laptop... the USB ports should not have any issues but I have tried connecting the SSD to all of them and still nothing
  • All drivers have been updated
  • Replaced the cable of the SSD with a brand new one

Starting to get really desperate here as I can't play any of my games for long before it crashes.

Your help is truly appreciated!!

No... it works perfectly well when I plug it into my old laptop. Really bizarro.

I will try the independently powered USB. Hopefully it helps.

Thanks!
