So SSDs are new territory to me and I want to make sure life is good before I clone my drive. Question is simple, right now windows sees my new, empty SSD. The bios does not see it as a Bootable drive, is this because it needs an OS on it to be recognized in the bios? Once is cloned will it show Bootable?

Solution

Correct.
Second thing you need to look at is current used space on your HDD, and size of the new SSD.
If A is smaller than B, all is good. Otherwise, you have issues.
