Question SSD driver missing ?

hi, I'm trying to reinstall Win10 on an Ssd (Crucial BX500). It's a very old Dell, no Uefi. The thing is my Win10 usb media (made with Rufus as MBR) does not detect the SSD. I've tried different SSDs and HDDs but got the same error always ("a media driver your computer needs is missing").

The astonishing thing is my Win11 usb media DOES DETECT the SSD and the other HDDs too.
I looked thru different solutions on MS forum, tried them but to no avail.
Anyone has an idea what's going on?
Need your urgent help:blush:

Were the w10 and w11 flash sticks created the same way?
Same source/same tools/same flash stick?

Same flashstick.
Yes same source, downloaded from MS media creation tool.
Win11 was made with Rufus. The win10 was made directly with the media creation tool.
Actually, one win10 flashdisk I made with Rufus, as MBR. Another Win10 is GPT, made by the creation tool.

Download from Dell support site (Windows7 x64 downloads)
Intel HM57/HM67 Express Chipset Family Driver

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/inspiron-15-intel-n5050/drivers

Extract it. Copy folder WIN7 contents onto USB flash drive and
load them during install.

I downloaded and extracted the chipset, but I put all the drivers in a folder, then loaded from that folder. It didn't work (tried all drivers except those marked as Usb). Is it a mistake to not put the drivers at the root of the flashdrive?

See this pic.

This is the correct one -
Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 2 port (or 4 port) Serial ATA Storage Controller

Did you remember to turn off Intel RST in BIOS?
Can you show screenshot from your BIOS for SATA controller settings?
(upload to imgur.com and post link)

Is your drive being detected in BIOS at all? May be it's defective?

Because as I said, the Win11 media detects the hard drives without issues.
Just wondering have you formatted the drive when you tried windows 11 or just put the Windows 11 installer on the computer to see that the drive shows up and stopped there? Will Windows 11 format the drive to ready it to move forward as if your going to install the Windows 11.

I you can get this far and do the format in Windows 11 and at that point hard shut down computer. Pull the Windows 11 install media and put in your Windows 10 media and see if drive is seen than.

yes, I tried this one as well. And there's no RST setting in Bios.

But I made a bootable Win11 on MBR flash disk (Rufus!). On another machine Win11 had detected the Ssd (BX500) whereas Win10 didn't, so I gave it a try.

Amazingly, it booted on the Inspiron N5050, detected the Ssd and installed smoothly.

I thought Win11 isn't supposed to run on non-EFI systems? (MS thread)
But it does, Windows 11 got installed on an MBR hard drive.

Even more funny is I forgot to change SATA Mode in Bios back to AHCI, so it's on ATA and runs well. 🤔😳 Inspiron N5050

I'm not so knowledgeable with the intricacies of ATA/AHCI or MBR/GPT but maybe someone expert here can explain how this was possible?

Very grateful to SkyNetRising and others for all the help.
