An external Toshiba 500gB ssd drive fitted to my recently rebuilt machine 10 X64 keeps randomly shutting itself down. Model nmbr DTB305 purchased December 2017

I have disabled fast start and also sleep mode. It is connected to the main USB3 port on the IO plate.

Removing and replugging the usb connection wakes the drive up, no other action will.

Thank you for quick answer Marksavio, I Have disabled letting Win shut down power to the Root USB hubs.

I will revert to say it worked after giving it a day or two to see what happens.

In all my searches for a solution, this one never came up - despite it being an obvious one I should have thought of :/

Regards Jonathan

Further to my last, I found yesterday that it is again shutting the usb3 SSD down despite checking that the power management for the root hubs remains disabled.

I also tried updating USB drivers and for the SSD, they were all up to date anyway.

Is there any other possible reason, a Google search does not show one that I have not tried.

Sometimes it will shut down after an hour, sometimes it stays on much longer.

The only use for the drive is file backup using Syncback Pro with real-time fast saves enabled, and a scheduled weekly (Sunday)system image via WIN10 utility.

Regards Jonathan
