Using Dell xps8300 with added 2nd HDD and 2nd CD drive; no SATA cables open. Can I add a SSD? What kind? How to xfer C: drive data to SSD for faster system startup? Will system recognize and start PC from SSD? or better to just buy new win 10 PC?

Your pc should have more that 2 SATA ports. Just buy an sata cable and connect it to your mainboard. But you also need to connect your ssd to an SATA power cable if your PSU has an unused one. If not you also need to buy an SATA power splitter. Try to avoid the molex to sata Adapters because they are known to catch fire.

It can be the case that your Pc doesn’t have a slot to mount your Ssd. BUT since SSD do not move you can stick it anywhere with an double sided tape. (I have done that myself)

If everything works out...boot your pc and install the Ease US cloning tool. With that you can clone your ssd and do not have to make a new installation of windows.

If you run into problems...just ask I have done something similar by myself.

Edit: I really would NOT recommend buying a new pc if that’s your only problem.
