I know this isnt easy to answer over the Internet. But im building my first pc and I want put my OS on my ssd and use the hdd as storage. I kind of know the basics but I heard about partitioning the hdd which I get confused on . Can someone please help

When installing windows select the SSD and install to that. Once done you update drivers ect for your machine. Now anytime you want to install a game ect just select the install path to go to the other drive eg D:\Games\<game name> (C:\ is you main OS drive). Install Antivirus and Spyware ect to your main drive (c:\). Anything you install will give you a promt of where you want to install it, usually C:\Program Files, just change it to D:\ (or whatever letter is assigned to the HDD).

Im not sure what you mean by storage but if its just Pics films ect but no installs ignore above. You dont need to partition the Hard drive unless you want to split it for some reason.

so when first installing windows i want to boot from optical drive and once its installed to my ssd, i want to change it back to my ssd as my first boot device. Correct?

Just watch the video. There is a lot more to using a SSD than just just picking it as your primary drive. I would highly recommend you go through that video and perform all the proper optimizations.

thank you camtrip. you cleared up a lot of confusion

I got you :)
