Hey guys, I recently built a pc for gaming and on this pc i am using a 128gb ssd and a 1tb hdd for storage. I downloaded my os and few other apps and games on the hdd to start the computer off (im stupid..) but now realise that i want to put some stuff in my ssd. So I am asking two questions what should i put in my ssd and what in my hdd and how do i transfer the stuff from my hdd to ssd.

thanks

I would put your OS on the SSD and if there is a favorite game or two you play all the time put those on your SSD. Otherwise put everything else on your hdd.

Ha, I think many of us have done this before =)

You've got a few options, some programs will just work if you copy the files, even without the registry keys - although Widows won't be able to uninstall it (fully) because it's moved locations.

If you want it to be all nice and pretty, I would say the best thing is to format and start again =*(

Ideal setup in my opinion, OS on SSD, games that you need a fast loading time in go on SSD too.
Everything else, HDD.
Honestly, the difference in gaming on SSD and HDD is only in the loading times - the other differences would be figures on peice of paper but nothing the human eye would pick up. Both my wife and I game and while my one will load up maybe 2 seconds faster, the gameplay is identical.

Oh sorry, no it's not, it would create a paradox - you need the os to copy to os...but it's using the os to do it?!?! mind = blown lol

Yes, so to start again you need to install windows on the ssd.
Depending on the version you have on your CD (assuming you have a windows disk?) you should be able to just insert the disk and install windows onto the ssd - you might have to change the boot order in the BIOS - (google changing boot order in BIOS to see awesome steps how to achieve that) - I say might because some systems come with an inbuilt boot manager...you'll know when you get to this step =)

Then you can just remove the OS from the hdd.

Does that make a bit more sense?

Yeah i get it kind of but how do you get the os off the hdd then.
