SSD free space problems

Hey guys

I got my computer half a year ago and i lost like 30 GB of free space on my C drive, i didnt saved or installed there anything but space keep disappearing. I asked on other forums but they just said that i should delete windows restore points but that didnt help, do you have any other ideas what should i do?


I just ran disc cleanup and when i clicked delete system files it said that i can delete 20 GB of space those 20 gbs are previous versions of windows, should i delete it ?

Yes sure unless you want to revert back to win 7/8

Lower the pagefile Virtual memory down to like 1gb or if you have 16gb of ram this will save you 15 GB
If you do have 16gb or more you can disable it completely.

hyberfill.sys uses almost as much too, you can disable it aswell:

Thanks for your answer. Can i somehow backup those files on my external HDD ? I mean where do i find them?
I only have 8 gigs oof RAM but in near future i am going to buy another 8 gigs so then i ll disable paging file

You only have 28 days before they delete them self i believe, so i guess you recently went to win 10?



to find old files...

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)

Enter Computer in the search box, and then tap or click Computer in the search results.

Double-tap or double-click the drive that Windows is installed on (typically, the C: drive).

Double-tap or double-click the Windows.old folder.

Double-tap or double-click the Users folder.

Double-tap or double-click your user name.

Open the folders that contain the files you want to retrieve.

Copy and paste the files that you want from each folder to a folder in Windows 10

Repeat steps 5-7 for each user account on your PC.

Yeah i updated to win 10 just yeasterday, now there is windows file and windows.old. So the windows.old folder will delete itself after 28 days? Or can i delete it ? Because it has 20 GB

Yes it should delete itself 28 days after the upgrade.

If you want to deleate, But best to use disk cleanup rather than just deleting windows.old
as there may be other files I'm unaware of.
