Hi, i recently purchased an ssd, and I have formatted it and cloned Windows to it using EaseTodo Backup. I just can't change the boot order because this Dell Inspiron 3847 will not enter its UEFI. I have tried everything from f2 and the window key+c to Pc settings to recovery to advanced options to troubleshoot to restart to change uefi hardware firm settings, but every time I press the restart button IT WON'T RESTART! I have tried it for the entire morning and I think I'm going insane.
Thanks for any help.

Please help, I am getting very desperate!

Solution
After cloning, install the ssd into the same port that the original boot drive was in. Dell locks the BIOS in almost all of their comp systems. This makes it a lot harder to upgrade. Too many Dell owners are having major headaches just trying to do simple upgrades.

My dell is weird: when I turn on the desktop, it is black for like 20 seconds and then directs me to my startup screen for my account password

it gets me to the screen where i click troubleshoot all the way to restart for bios but the computer wont restart,it will just hibernate

but there is no message saying press f2 to enter bios, it doesn't say anything. also i tried pressing f2 repeatedly and it won't get me to bios.

Thanks for the info. I'll try it.

Just tried it. It still boots from the hard drive

It doesn't boot. I used EaseTodo Backup from the lifehacker guide to clone it so I don't think that's the problem. Should I format and clone it again?

I use Acronis True Image coupled with Acronis DiskDirector 11. You can download a one month free trial of True Image and clone with it, I believe. I use it to clone a lot and it has never failed me. Set it to auto and it clones perfectly. The data on the original drive needs to be able to fit on the new ssd. Also, there are plenty free apps that you can download to clone drives.
