SSD Hard drive dissapears

Hi, I have just built a new PC and salvaged my old kingston 64 gb ssd. However the ssd dissapears from time to time. I have to keep rebooting the pc until it shows up which is a hassle. My windows is installed on a newer ssd. Also sometimes the PC constantly reboots when I try to turn it on. Can anybody help me?

Hi there Coolstorybrah,

The issue you are facing is most probably caused by loose connection(both ends of the cable). You can swap cable and port as well.
The firmware may be out of data as well.
Just back any important data up(if any) until you resolve the issue.

Assuming your connections are OK, I would examine the SMART report with a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo.

I have wiped the drive and changed the ports. The problem is still reoccuring. How does the CrystalDiskInfo work?

CrystalDiskInfo displays the drive's SMART attributes.
