I'm thinking of adding an SSD to my current system http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/fXtmJx i would only like a 128/ 256GB SSD so would like suggestions on what to go with.

Also as i already have a HDD with an OS, what is the best way to go about this? can i keep the OS on the HDD and then install it onto the SSD as well? I've never used an SSD so any advise would be great.

I'd suggest a Kingston HyperX 3K (a little old now) or a Samsung 840/850.

You can install the OS on to the SSD and programs/files on the HDD. You can move the OS over but it is difficult and prone to not working so if you can reinstall the OS on to the SSD. You won't lose files on the HDD.

I can recommend the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, they are the sweet spot right now. Price wise they can be had as low as $89 (certainly here in the US) with some careful price matching.

Which OS version are you running?

If you can, do a clean install of the OS onto the SSD, that will give you the best performance.

You don't need a second copy of the OS on the hard drive once it's installed on the SSD, you can then format the old drive (after backing up your data) and use it for games/data/whatever else you need. How old is the Seagate Drive? Those models have a high failure rate if I remember correctly.
