[SOLVED] SSD health below 50% after only a year ?

I bought this SSD a little over a year ago and it's health is already below 50% and I'm concerned. Why would it drop so fast? I had a friend recently tell me that running disk cleanup which I do occasionally can make it lose health really quick, is this true? It also says total writes is at 44709GB and that seems like a lot, is that normal for an SSD?

I don't understand where the 47% comes from.

Total Host Writes (attribute F1h) is 0xAEA5 (= 44709) GB.

Average P/E cycles (attribute ADh) is 0xEA (= 234).

Assuming perfect wear levelling and a write amplification factor (WAF) of 1, then the current TBW value is ...

• 128GiB x 234 = 32TB

I have used a capacity of 128GiB in order to include the overprovisioned space. The actual result would be greater then 32TB since the real WAF would be greater than 1. In any case the reported writes are consistent with the other SMART data.

I couldn't find an official TBW spec for your drive, but I'm guessing that it would be 80TB.

• 44709 GB / 80 TB = 56%

... which means that the remaining life is 44%.

I don't understand the Media Wearout Indicator (attribute E6h), but it appears to consist of 3 values:

• 0x35042E503504 -> 0x3504 / 0x2E50 / 0x3504

As for the reason for the high usage, it could be related to the page file or hibernation file. You should not defragment your SSD, assuming that is part of your disk cleanup.

15151 hours is 1.7 years.

The drive has 40gb of free space left, i did buy it new from amazon in December 2018 so the 15151 hours would make sense. I usually leave the computer powered on most of the time.

Do you even turn off your PC? I have been using my SSD for almost a year now and I have 3181 hours on it with 457 times turned on. Your PC has 4 times more hours with only 61 turn ons. My SSD has 100% health.

Being too full also has an impact of lifespan.
You need to leave 20% or so free space.

It mostly runs 24/7, I guess I shouldn't do that.
