What one would i plug my sata 3 cable into for my ssd

if it has your OS on it always SATA 0 as this is what assigns it to be the MASTER. If it is just a SSD for storage and other, plug into sata 1

There is no such thing as master for sata and the mobo will boot to whichever device the boot partition points to. If there are multiple boot partitions or if it is not on the boot device, it will read the ports in sequence or the device sequence set in bios.
