I have tried installing a PNY CS900 ssd into an optiplex 790. The device is found in device manager but is not found in disk Management, I’ve tried different SATA ports or even SATA cables but can not get this to change, I NEED HELP
Yes the sss was new out of the box from amazon, and no it does not show up there
Are you positive the system is legacy and not UEFI? Check System Information/System Summary. Scroll down to BIOS Mode. Does it say Legacy?
The reason I wanted to be sure is because it is acting like the drive was formatted in one mode and the OS is in another mode. If the system is indeed in Legacy mode, I'd be inclined to think that the SSD was in UEFI mode. Was the SSD new out of the box?
Another oddity... the SSD doesn't show up in Disk Management or Diskpart/List Dsik, but it shows up BIOS and Device Manager.
Are you using more than one drive? A HDD and a SSD together? What color SATA headers are they plugged into?
Reboot and enter BIOS. (I'm going by my Optiplex 9010 MT, yours may be slightly different)
1) Go to General/Advanced Boot Options and see if Enable Legacy Option ROMs is checked.
2) Go to System Configuration/SATA Operation. See if AHCI is ticked.
3) Go to System Configuration/Drives and make sure the SSD is present.
I have a hard drive plugged in to port 0 which is blue, and then I have the ssd plugged into SATA port 3 which is white. I am going to do that right now

When you get the SSD to be recognized, and if it is replacing the HDD, be sure to use the Blue header for the SSD. It is the only one that is SATA III. The others are SATA II.
