SSD hotter than HDD?

I've found recently that whenever my HDD is doing data-intensive stuff, it always heats up a lot. The SSD in my case is right next to the HDD, but the solid state drive is always a consistent 10 degrees celsius hotter than the HDD. Is this normal? is it a difference in the way they sense temperature? because shouldn't the solid state drive be the same, if not cooler?

It's possible. Memory chips in SSDs can get really hot after intensive disk access. Some don't get that hot some gets really hot. It really depends on the controller on the SSD. Just like some spinning hard drives don't get that hot and some gets really hot.

Depends on product and speeds. I find that high-speed parts often get hot as f.... I learned the hard way on m2 I touched by mistake. in my case it goes up to 76 C on 15G copy-paste.

SSD will be cooler when working at same speed as HDD with same amount of data. But ssd tend to be faster, and by most people used to work, VS hdd used as cold storage. Also then dont have spinning part that spread HEAT around

yes the ssd most of the time its hotter than a hdd i dont knw whe. i upgrade from hdd to ssd and the hdd runs about 39-45 and th ssd 35-63
