SSD, IDE to AHCI After OS Install

after instaling my OS(Windows 8) I forgot to change my SATA to ACHI from IDE in BIOS. Now when I change my SATA my OS BSOD's, is there a registry fix/windows fixit available to correct this issue?

I located THIS that I have not tried yet.

Any sugestions?

If Windows 7, then yes, run the fix, then switch SATA to AHCI in BIOS.

Well I forgot to mention that its a Windows 8 Machine. thats why im unsure about the fix-it
