Sblanchette007 :
Stupid question and probably a easy answer but i just installed a SSD and cloned everything over to it from my HD... both are 500GB and i would like know which is which when im looking at the drives on my screen so i can format my HD and move all my steam games onto it, also im assuming the HD partitioned itself and i would like to know how to fix that so i dont have 5 drives showing up!!
Go to the Start Button and in the Search Box type "Disk Management". Up top you'll see something about formatting disks. Just click on it and it will bring up the Disk Management Console.
At the top of DM you'll see a list of your drives and their stats. Ignore this for the moment.
Below that you'll see some wide rectangles with different colored stripes at the top. Next to the Rectangles are boxes with labels, like "Disk 0, Disk 1, etc" right click on these disk labels and select "Properties". This will show the manufacturer of each disk, and the Drive Letters are in the rectangles.
If you installed Windows with both drives hooked up, there will be some un-named partitions on the HDD that you cannot delete (unless you'd like to re-install Windows).
When you are ready to delete partitions on the HDD go to the line of rectangles that you identified as your HDD and right click on the BIG partitions, select "Delete Volume" and Windows will remove it. DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING 1 GB OR LESS! Otherwise, you may not be able to restart Windows.
When you are done deleting, again right click on the empty space in the rectangle and select "New Simple Volume". This will open a wizard that lets you select the size, FAT 32 or NTFS (you want NTFS), etc. Once that is done, you MAY have to right click again to Format and Assign a Drive letter.
Good luck!
