SSD In New Build

OK in the process of a new build. using a i7 4790K cpu and MB capable of high speed SATA. I am going to have two drives. One 500 MB SSD, and one 2 TB HDD.

So my question is how to utilize the two drives effectively?

My gut feeling is load OS, and application programs on the SSD, and everything else on the HDD. Is that correct or have I missed something?

you are correct..
OS and only important and/or frequent used apps & games on ssd..

just reminder when installing os, the best way is only connect ssd first..
the hdd is installed later after os is up and running...
