SSD initialized but not recognized

Hello, i have read countless threads online of people asking why there SSD does not show up i windows exploder. the answer is always "go to disk management ....drive letter......." but I have done all that already on m laptop and it shows up fine. but connecting it to my school desktop does not show. The enclosure is USB 3.0 MicroB. i have a cable that runs from the USB 3.0 port on the back of my school computer that i try to connect it to and nothing. but using the cable included with the enclosure on the USB 2.0 port on the front of the tower works fine.
Any help would be great thanks!!

P.s. my laptop is win 8 (initialized on this machine)
School desktop is win 7.

usb 3.0 has a host of issues especially with older motherboards. particularly the first generation of usb 3.0 devices...

if it will work plugged into a usb2.0 plug then just use it on a usb2.0 plug.
