I installed a new SSD in my acer aspire xc600 but it won't seem to boot from it. I clone the original drive but still doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions.

Did you copy the MBR and the Boot Sectors? Did you mark a partition on the new drive as active? You can boot from install media (disk or USB) and use the bootrec utility http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/32523/how-to-manually-repair-windows-7-boot-loader-problems/
Is it on the same SATA port as the HDD was? Does the drive show up in the BIOS as being connected? I believe some of the cloning software mentions to connect it to the same port as the HDD was before the image was made. If it is showing up in BIOS but not booting, you may need to rebuild the MBR.
