I just installed a second ssd and updated my drivers, but now many programs I open on my original ssd
will not respond and any programs put into the new ssd will freeze my pc

Update: I seem to have fixed, I can now smoothly install things to the new ssd add and run things from it, but now my pcs start up time is seemingly a lot slower?

Solution
you mean S.M.A.R.T. drive error?
this means that the possible problem could be
1. bad cable and drive is not getting proper connections.
2. Drive is about to Fail or is failing.
(Note: I included the bad cable suggestion because this has happened to me bad cable causing a bad reading.)
I would suggest trying this drive in another computer to make sure its the drive and not an incompatibility issue on your own computer.
other then that Im sorry I've got no other solution for you. maybe some other tech savvy person might have an answer.
change your boot startup in Windows 10 :
To change which apps run at startup, press and hold (or right-click) the Start
Windows logo Start button ( or right click on task bar )
select Task Manager, and then select the Startup tab. Choose an app, then select Enable or Disable.

this should help with boot sluggishness. or to check for hardware conflicts run your windows diagnostics program this should give you detailed information and fix any errors that might be causing your problem

That did help slow startup, but I am now getting the "This program has stopped responding" again.

I used the diagnostics tool and no problem was found, but on restart of my pc after during boot up it said S.M.A.R.T something something and said the new ssd was in bad condition
