SSD is accessible but unbootable

I had my OS running on a Samsung 830 series 128GB SSD, until one day my system randomly decided to shutdown by itself. When I tried to boot it again, it could never get past the "loading operating system" screen. I suspected it was corrupted files in the OS, but I was unable to fix it despite all efforts.

Now I've formatted this SSD, installed it into another system and migrated the OS from that computer onto it, one that I know has no problems. But upon booting, it too gets stuck at the flashing underscore screen, apparently trying to load the OS.

This SSD is perfectly accessible from a HDD dock, and I can see no anomalies there, but the fact that it has failed to boot in two systems has got me wondering: is there something wrong with this SSD?

Have u checked in ur BIOS and made sure that ur SSD is selected as main boot drive ?

Yes, and this is a netbook so the only boot device is the SSD. Does it make sense for an SSD to be accessible but not bootable? I thought it was always hit or miss when it comes to storage devices.
