I have a 500gb nvme ssd that i use as a boot drive. i also download to it and things like that however recently it seems to have become way too full.
There seems to be a full 215 GB that are filled up by nothing at all.

Here is what i mean

My disk size is 476gb
I have 115gb free

if i go into the drive via 'this pc' - windows explorer, click and drag select everything, then right click and select propoties. i am told that all the files (hidden as well) add up to 146-ish gb.
this makes no sense since that's 200 gb bellow my actual capacity.

Solution
What you see in File Explorer is nowhere near 'everything'.

Install and run either WinDirStat, or WizTree.

Run as Administrator, selecting only the drive in question.
Post a screencap here.

Also, a screencap of your Disk Management window.
SSD full of something, in most cases when you install something you could just quick check that the correct amount of bytes got deducted from available storage space by comparing the stated required size of application or games when they mostly prompt when installing. (if you do that with everything you install, space should always be accounted for)

In windows 10 you can also view space allocation in the: Settings - System - Storage -Show more categories, and clean up or free up or just manage space on your storage device.
