Since yesterday, suddenly my pc shuts down on certain moments. Like the power is gone, from all to black screen in 2 seconds. When I check the event viewer I can only find this:

The IO operation at logical block address 0x2e12d0 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\00000024) was retried.

My event log is full of these warnings... the 00000024 part stays the same, only the "0x2e12d0" part is different everytime.

My windows 8.1 is running on Samsung SSD 840 Series. I cannot update the firmware (maybe that's the problem) because magician does not recognize my SSD. The program finds it, but most of the features are not clickable for me (also not firmware update).

Can someone help me how to stop this issue ? This SSD is inside this computer since April.. Never had any complaints or issues. Now suddenly this problem occurs..

I also cannot put the Sata chipset into AHCI (because some people say that's the problem why magician is not recognizing my ssd), i only have "enable" or "disable" in BIOS. (I can only enter by clicking DEL when starting up the PC". When I go to PC settings and start up win 8.1 in troubleshoot I don't have the UEFI Firmware settings button. So I have no other option.

Thing is .. it doesn't happen all the time .. Can't tell you when it's going to happen. The only thing I notice is .. when my pc shuts down (the issue) .. I restart it .. after being in windows for 1 minute .. it shuts down again .. I restart .. (2nd restart) after that I seem to work for a very long time on it again, before he shuts down again. I was also thinking that it's maybe the power supply that's broke, but this error log is not even close to related to a power supply issue..

It's a rather OLD pc, which I updated with an SSD and win 8 few months ago:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Mainboard: MSI MS-7350
Chipset: NVIDIA : nForce 650i SLI SPP
Southbridge: NVIDIA : nForce 650i SLI MCP
graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512
OS: Windows 8.1
Second SATA hdd (not ssd): SAMSUNG HD753LJ

Anything more you need to know ?

it's installed inside, not externally. Samsung SSD 840 series SATA. I tried with 4.2.1 and 4.4. But both can't find it.

If it was the power supply .. I would have more shut downs .. in the meanwhile I'm alrdy working on this pc for more than an hour without a shut down .. as I said .. it happends on an unregular base which doesn't make sense.
