Hi guys,

I'm desperate, I got a new SSD Kingston svp180s2/128g but I can only format it on FAT..

I tried on Linux, Windows and Mac, always the same

When I try a different filesystem like NTFS, EXT4 or HFS+ I get error...

What could it be?

Were you trying to use the ssd as an external drive? If so, then problem is most likely the cable adapter you are using. Most USB to SATA adapters will not recognize the drive. Get an eSATA to microSATA cable with a separate USB pigtail to power the drive and it should be okay.

Yes, sata to usb, but it works with other normal drives..

It was supposed to substitute the hd in a mbp, and it doesnt work even if I mount it inside...

But if I format in FAT and exFat it works :/ I can write and read data from there..

why?
