Hi,
I just installed a 128GB SSD drive in my laptop as the boot drive.

The strange thing is that it is now reporting drive C as 88GB and in disk management there are two mystery unamed and totally empty partitions of 25GB each.

Obviously I would like the 50GB back. How do I do it or what's wrong.

My laptop is an Asus N75SL. I created Asus recovery disks for the windows 7 64bit. Install.

Cheers

Well.. for s start - it does not add up..
25+25+88 = 138.. so something is def not right.

128Gb.. you will prob get about 111Gb usable.. so I am going to guess you only have a 25Gb and a 88Gb..

SSDs often like some "scrub space".. some spare space where they can use to do internal management. .but 25Gb sems a bit much.. check your manual.

You can go to disk management and make changes. but you probably want to get someone who knows what they doing to take a look . Its an area where you can mess up your Windows installation very easily - so don't fiddle if you don't know what you doing (you don't sound awfully comfortable with it all).

Cheers

Hi,
You are right. Once I had reinstalled windows I put the old 500GB disk back in to format.

Disk 0 is drive C at 86GB with an unnamed 25GB partition.

Drive 1 is drive D at 460GB plus a 25GB partition.

So I take it 25GB has been stolen by Asus recovery software.

I can't understand why it's also taken it from drive D.

Thanks.
Ian
